Phoebe Had a Blue Moon Single Release
"Phoebe Had a Blue Moon is about getting out of town, the view from a mountain, overcoming depression and moving on. There is a dreamy escapism with a Major 7th chord and Welter uses it in this song. Burt Bacharach would have understood.
May “Phoebe Had a Blue Moon” be just that lookout, that perspective and that dreamy landscape...As Welter's Elliott Weston explains:
I’m not much of a piano player but we inherited my mother in laws piano and it now sits pride of place in the lounge room. My fingers easily fall to the C major 7th chord reminding me of Burt Bacharach or David Gates.
There is a dreamy escapism with that type of chord and I have used it in Phoebe Had a Blue Moon. A song about getting out of town, overcoming depression and moving on. A song for my daughter.
Following on from their number 1 radio single, Red Roof Barn, there are a few windy mountain references as well.
Perspective often espapes us as it is rare in life but the “High Country” is often a place to find it. I love a good lookout and when touring, demand we stop, as to see the expanse of this country and survey the landscape from another perspective is exciting. May Phoebe Had a Blue Moon be this lookout, this perspective, a dreamy escape.
